Ingredients
  • 1 pound cremini mushrooms (whole)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese (softened)
  • grated parmesan cup grated parmesan (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
  • salt and pepper
Instructions
  1. Remove the stems from the mushrooms and finely chop the stems.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the sausage, chopped mushrooms stems, and garlic – cook until the sausage is browned then remove from the heat.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  5. Stir together the cream cheese, ¼ cup parmesan, and parsley in a medium bowl.
  6. Add the sausage mixture to the bowl and stir well – season with salt and pepper.
  7. Spoon the mixture into the mushroom caps and place them on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes then sprinkle with the remaining parmesan.
  9. Broil on high heat for 3 to 5 minutes until the parmesan is browned. Rest 10 minutes before serving.
