There are so many possibilities when it comes to preparing food in a slow cooker. You can make main dishes, beverages, desserts, breakfasts, really almost anything. It is incredible how many different things can be made in a slow cooker. Best of all, they all only take a little bit of time to put together. The slow cooker really should be a busy person's favorite kitchen appliance.

I love cooking in a slow cooker for the sheer convenience and ease of it, a lot of times you can simply throw everything in and then, usually four to eight hours later, you have delicious food ready and waiting for you. Pretty much every slow cooker is made the same, with a high and a low setting. Anyone can figure out how to work such a simple appliance! The more deluxe slow cookers can be programmed to start or stop at certain times, giving you the option to throw everything in the pot in the morning and set it to start cooking later in the day. You can even program your slow cooker to start in the middle of the night if you are preparing a slow cooker breakfast. Even if your machine does not have a programmable timer, it is still just as great- you really only need that low or high heat setting to make perfect dishes!

You can even prep ahead of time, making slow cooker meals even easier (can you believe that it could be any easier?!) All you need to fo is measure the ingredients for the recipe you want to meal prep and then place everything in a large zippered freezer bag. Freeze the ingredients and then, when you are ready to make the meal later on in the week (or month), dump them into your slow cooker, set it to low or high and your whole meal is done! This is great to do with certain recipes and is a wonderful way to set yourself up with some pre-made, low carb meals. That kind of effortlessness is a huge win in my book, especially with a busy schedule like many of us have.

Not only is using a slow cooker to prepare meals super easy, it just seems to bring out the flavors of a dish beautifully. Some of my favorite meals are made using a slow cooker. The low and slow cooking time allows the flavors of a recipe to mingle together and develop into wonderful blends of irresistible meals. It is also the perfect way to cook tougher cuts of meat as the long cooking time allows the proteins in the meats to breakdown and tenderize. That also makes the slow cooker an economical cooking option as you can buy less expensive meats and prep them to perfection!

All of these awesome slow cooker, low carb recipes are truly fantastic. From slow cooker clam chowder to side dishes like green beans with ham, there is definitely something here for everyone. So grab that slow cooker and get ready to make some fantastic dishes! I hope you'll find some new favorites here!
